Chez Philippe is a small, family-run French spot at 34 N Santa Cruz Ave with a short menu; the grilled steak with caramelized shallots gets the most love, and coq au vin sometimes turns up as a special. There's outdoor seating and beer and wine, and they take reservations, which is worth doing on a weekend. It's more date night than family night.
